About

I am currently writing my dissertation, titled "A Line of Escape: Animation, Animals, Modernity," which investigates how theorizing early animation in terms of its representation of animals can allow us to think a Deleuzian line of escape from strategies of anthropomorphism.

My research interests include: the history and theory of animation; animal studies; early cinema and proto-cinematic devices; critical theory; the history of science and technology; comparative media studies (comics, illustration, and graphic novels as well as moving-image media); and short-form media.
